Welcome to the Berne Vaughan Art blog. This is a space where I will be sharing updates on my work, exhibitions and more.

This is a blog post that I wrote for Outsider Art Gallery earlier this year, I hope it gives you a bit more insight into my work.

My dad always used to joke that he found me on a roundabout under a bush, which I believed until I was about ten years old, and which always made me feel like an outsider and different to everybody else. I spent most of my early childhood in rural Scotland and Wales, where myself and my siblings would leave the house in the morning and spend our days exploring the woodlands and rivers until it was time to go home for dinner. The memory of finding dark woodlands and old ruined buildings has had a major influence on my ink drawings, as I try to recreate the atmosphere of being a bit lost and far from home. I am also a self-taught painter and my work varies with my mood from abstract to realist and all sorts in between. I am interested in the feeling that others get from looking at my work, my process changes frequently depending upon what inspiration comes to me and this enables me to create an eclectic variety of pieces. I always wanted to go to art school, but have only recently got there. I am currently studying for my second year of a B.A in Fine Art. I now tell my eldest son that he was raised by wolves until I found him; maybe he will be an artist too, or hopefully a Rockstar so he can pay for my retirement and my solid gold rocket car!
